Join SWVG
All members of SWVG play an active role in the group.
Many members are Visitors, but there are other opportunities to get involved if you feel that visiting is not appropriate for you. We need members who will: run, or help with the running of, fundraising events; take part in campaigning work or help submit funding bids to grant making trusts.
We have a number of friends and supporters who take a strong interest in the group but are not active members. If you would like to support SWVG, contact us and we will make sure that you are kept up to date with our upcoming events.

Becoming a Visitor
You can find out more about the work of a Visitor by reading a summary of last year's visiting activities and some accounts written by Visitors.
If you tell us that you are interested in becoming a Visitor, a group member will phone you to explain what is involved and answer questions.
Should you decide, then or later, that you would like to join us, we will provide training and on-going support. Click here for more information.
You will need to provide references and submit to a CRB check.
Initially you will visit with an experienced Visitor.
You will be assigned another member of the group as your back-up, to discuss any difficulties and help with visiting if required.
You will be invited to join a support group where you can discuss problems in confidence.
You will have access to other organisations which assist or interact with refugees and asylum seekers.
