SWVG Structure

SWVG has an Executive Committee of up to nine members who are the trustees of the charity. They are elected every year by the members and meet every two months. The Executive is supported by a number of sub groups:

The Fundraising Group undertakes the writing of bids for grants from charitable trusts, liaises with churches and other organisations who make donations as well as encouraging gifts from individuals.

The Events Group organises activities such as music concerts, theatrical performances, talks, dinners and sponsored walks etc to raise funds and awareness of the plight of destitute asylum seekers.

The Web Group, led by the Webmaster, ensures that the public website and the private members' pages are kept up to date and relevant.

The Legal Justice Project Group manages the grant that provides a specialist legal service.  Click here for details of  the Legal Justice Project 2010 -2011.

The Money Allocation Group meets monthly to decide on the allocation of ASSIST funds. The ASSIST scheme provides support to some destitute clients for a limited period. Click here for more about the ASSIST scheme 2010-11

The Campaign Group raises awareness of asylum issues and supports national campaigns.

The Support Groups provide visitors with opportunities to talk through problems and gain information from others.
